New site

Hey, long time no post. Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Enemy Territory and I’ve even been accepted as a test member in the *Euro-Force* clan. The *E-F* leader, Alex, is only 16 and pays for the server himself out of his own pocked money. This inspired me to open up site which collects money from ads. This money will go towards a server. If you want to help out or are just curious, the site is http://www.game-aid.co.nr

R.I.P Steve Irwin

September 4, 2006 at 11:54 pm (Misc. Stuff)

Today, Steve Irwin was killed whilst diving in Batt Reef, Australia. I can’t believe it, everytime I see/read the story its like I’m looking at it for the very first time. I must have read it about 20 times at least. I first heard he was dead when I woke up this morning, the tv was on Sky News and at the bottom there was “BREAKING NEWS: Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin Killed In Tragic Diving Accident” or something like that, to this moment (11:38PM) I still can’t believe he’s gone.. I never thought hewould die this way, I always thought he’d die a natural death. When I was younger, I used to love watching the Crocodile Hunter on Discovery and I used to think he was crazy. He was a man who loved his work and who loved animals. He truly lived life to the fullest. Here’s a statement from the Australia Zoo on the Crocodile Hunter’s website,http://www.crocodilehunter.com

Media statement – 4 September 2006

Steve Irwin

At 11am today, the 4th September 2006, Steve Irwin was fatally wounded by a stingray barb to his heart whilst filming a sequence on Batt Reef off Port Douglas for his daughter’s new TV series.
Emergency services were called from Cairns Rescue Base and met Croc One, Steve’s rescue vessel at Low Isle on the Great Barrier Reef.
The Croc One crew performed constant CPR during the thirty minute dash to Low Isle, but the medical staff pronounced Steve dead at approx. 12 noon.

His producer and closest friend, John Stainton said on Croc One today,
“The world has lost a great wildlife icon, a passionate conservationist and one of the proudest Dads on the planet. He died doing what he loves best and left this world in a happy and peaceful state of mind. Crocs Rule!”

Here’s a piece of an article from Sky New’s website:

Tributes have poured in from around the world to the Australian naturalist Steve Irwin who has been killed by a stingray.

He was filming an underwater documentary off Australia’s northeast coast when the accident took place.”

Also, an entry about him on Wikipedia has already been updated with information about his death

“Shortly after 11:00am local time on 4 September 2006, Irwin was fatally pierced in the chest by a short-tail stingray barb while diving in Queensland‘s Batt Reef, which is part of the Great Barrier Reef. The events were caught on camera and the footage is now in the possession of Queensland Police.[23] Irwin was in the area filming his own documentary, to be called The Ocean’s Deadliest, but weather had stalled filming. Irwin decided to take the opportunity to film some shallow water shots for a segment in the television program his daughter Bindi was hosting,[24] when, according to his friend and colleague John Stainton, he swam too close to one of the animals. “He came on top of the stingray and the stingray’s barb went up and into his chest and put a hole into his heart,” said Stainton, who was on board Irwin’s boat at the time.”

A statement from Billy Campbell, president of the Discovery Network:

“Our entire company is deeply saddened by the tragic and sudden loss of Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter. Steve was beloved by millions of fans and animal lovers around the world and was one of our planet’s most passionate conservationists. He has graced our air since October 1996 and was essential in building Animal Planet into a global brand.”
“The Animal Planet will rename the garden space in front of Discovery’s world headquarters in Silver Spring, Maryland, to the “Steve Irwin Memorial Sensory Garden.” They are also looking at the creation of the Steve Irwin Crocodile Hunter Fund, which they will call “The Crikey Fund” which will “allow people from across the globe to make contributions in Steve’s honour to support wildlife protection, education and conservation.”

Well, I could go on an on..but I feel I should stop here. Last thing I want to say is that at least he died doing the thing he liked, with a peaceful state of mind. You can see a video Sky News broadcasted about him here: http://news.sky.com/skynews/video/videoplayer/0,,30200-irwin_p20212,00.html The video of his death is currently being held by Queensland police and I don’t think they’re going to be releasing it to the public.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest

July 22, 2006 at 3:13 pm (Films)

“Jack owes an unpaid debt to Davy Jones and his army of sea-phantoms…his soul. Now, he must find a way to save himself from becoming one of them, and suffering forever.”

Those 2  sentences prettey much sum it up! Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) owes Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) his soul. Dead Man’s Chest is full of action, adventure, sarcasm and wit. Fans of the first film should definetley see this one. I give it 4.5/5 stars.

Roger Waters LIVE in Malta.

July 11, 2006 at 5:36 pm (Past Events)

Last night I got to see Roger Waters live at Luxol. For those of you who don’t know..Roger Waters is the genius behind Pink Floyd (if you don’t know who Pink Floyd are, you shoudn’t be alive). It was perfectly organized. It took me less than 5 minutes to get in and the show was amazing, I had a good place, was with good friends, what more could you ask for? The only thing that wasn’t perfect was the bar(but its hard to find a perfect bar at a concert). Whilst waiting to be served, I stepped on about 7 people’s feet and the lady who was serving spilt about four beers. It was 100 times better than Aussie Floyd (regarding organization and layout).I had an Lm18 ticket (General Admission-Standing) but I was still quite close (near the NNG pillar closest to the stage, almost near the gates for the Lm35 standing) Anyway… Some of my favourite songs that night were Mother, Wish You Were Here, Have a Cigar, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, The Wall, We Don’t Need No Education..and of course, Comfortably Numb. I think the best one was Comfortably Numb, the pyrotechnics were amazing. When he sang the chorus, flame shot out from the top of the stage and I could feel the heat (I’m not lying, ask anyone who was with me!) To finish off, the show was AMAZING. Any Maltese who liked Pink Floyd was/should have been there. Congrats NNG Promotions!!

Matt.

P.S. I didn’t have a camera there and all I had to take picutures with was my mobile, but they were terrible, it was too bright for my to take a proper picture with my phone (ironically, I didn’t have a camera at Aussie Floyd either..)
